Moved To Lilytbh

Hey there peeps!

Thanks for the support all these while!

I've been blogging for years now with various blogs, but I've stayed with this blog the longest.

It's been a wonderful journey, but as with all beginnings, there are endings.

I've moved to lilytbh , feel free to check me out there from time to time and follow my blog!

Love,
Lily

Experience As A Sales Assistant In A Retail Pharmacy

So it's been ages since I last blogged here!
I used to blog at projectideas but somehow this felt more like home :)

Anyway,
it's already 1 month since the 2nd year sem break started.
Reminds me that I have not updated my 2nd year life heheh
*coming soon*

Personally felt that I made a good decision
by applying to pharmacies for a part time job
as soon as the break started.
Well,
technically as soon as my friends and I splurge on good food and shopping
to treat ourselves post-exams haha.

So in the end, I worked at this retail pharmacy.
Unfortunately, those with pharmacists need only full-time staff
so I had to settle for those without my seniors *sobs*.

Although I only worked for a short period of time,
I learnt a lot, every single day.

The best part about retail is meeting lots of people.
You meet all sorts of people,
from the kind mak cik giving you an extra ringgit
for advising her how to save money with PWP,
to the irresistible kids learning how to count change.
Then there were guys paying for condoms
who wanted the transaction to end as quickly as possible.
Oh and not to forget the playful
yet madly in love couple that
infected us with their romantic joy.

However,
there were also customers on the other side of the spectrum.
Glad to say though that those were 1 in several thousand ;)
In fact,
I do think that these customers remind us
to be vigilant all the time
and to give our best always.

Oh besides the customers,
I had beautiful people working with me.
They taught me everything from scratch.
From the products available in our outlet to being a cashier,
I must credit them for teaching me so many things.
Also not to forget the togetherness feeling of the team!

In addition,
my parents were super supportive of me working there.
I particularly liked my daily commute to and fro
my working place with dad.
Although he liked to tease/nag me,
it was a perfect bonding time imo :')
Oh and my parents absolutely love fetching me at night
when they could do grocery shopping at the nearby mall
*hint half-priced lasagnas*

A very important lesson that I learnt while working there was
that beauty and wellness are not something
one should take for granted.
After seeing my customers being so passionate
on all sorts of products that I previously will not look at at all,
I came to know what all these products are for.
I must admit I got influenced a little
by taking care of my skin better than I did before.
*hurray*

Lastly,
I really enjoyed working there because I was busy.
That's when I knew as long as I don't challenge my comfort zone,
I would be filled with unnecessary thoughts and emotions that hinder my actual potential!
PS The best part about being a cashier is actually greeting people with a smile!
Oh and the second best part was
when they accept your offer of purchasing PWP
and even better, CRM.
I could feel my heart ballooning every single time the latter happened!

All in all,
it was the best working experience I had so far!

Cheers to a meaningful first half of sem break! :D

Late Night Thoughts On Unity

So I've been away from blogging for too long
and I know hahaa.
Anyways,
I figured I'd do one
about a topic I feel so strongly about,
particularly today
(considering I was doing Hubungan Etnik assignments
and just finished watching a heartwarming drama on unity).

I'll confess that I didn't mix as closely
with those of other races prior to asasi days.
Maybe I was slightly influenced by
surrounding stereotypes and immaturity.
But somehow deep inside me,
I felt all of this weren't right.
It doesn't make sense.
Why should a complex individual be
judged to have certain characteristics
just because he/she was of a certain race?
Logically this simply didn't fit.
I had quite a few close friends
during secondary school which were from different races.
Malacca, after all, is a great place to meet many
people with different cultural backgrounds.

And then during asasi,
I had the chance to be closer to those of different races.
Personally,
it was a chance to put those stereotypes away for good
and to prove my logic right.
I wasn't disappointed.
Dorm life and the stress of our programme
brought us close to each other,
and it didn't take long for us
to love each other as a family with such a strong bond.
I've never felt more Malaysian
and I'm proud of it. :)

Fast forward to around 2 years later.
Uni life's great when your social circle comprises of
so many unique individuals regardless of their race,
and I've never felt more alive and happy.

I know that conflicts may occur,
and in fact it will arise as with in any family,
but I will always choose to have faith in humanity,
in the people that makes Malaysia, Malaysia.
Those that write in defense of unity
also has my utmost respect
as they had to (sometimes) endure being bashed
quite harshly by keyboard warriors.

There may be certain issues that cause us
to harbour distrust among each other,
but this is Malaysia.

With our imperfect politics,
with our perfect food,
with our controversial policies,
with our warm people,
with jokes only we understand,
even with our own bahasa rojak.

Malaysia is us, and we are her.

PS For those who think that patriotism means not criticising whatever happens in the country,
please remember that it is precisely because of love that we act the way we do ✌️

1st Year of Uni Life

I think I owe my uni life
2 sem's worth of blog posts.
Yeap.
2 sems a.k.a 1 year of uni life
has flew past me.
Another one month plus
and I will be back in campus
as a 2nd year senior.

It seemed like yesterday
when we received our respective offers
to pursue our degrees
at the airport.

It seemed surreal back then.
Partly because this is what I've been
studying hard for all my life:
for a chance to be admitted into a university.
And finally,
as the words "Tahniah" flashed across my eyes
after I've nervously clicked the "Submit" button,
my dreams came true.

What was sweeter was the fact
that I was with my closest friends,
and we shared the joy together.

Hours before knowing our results hehe.

Fast forward to approximately one year later.

Met a lot of people,
made a lot of new friends.
And learnt lots of stuff from em,
ranging from completely normal
to insanely weird haha.
Love their randomness to bits.

My roommate and I with our 1st Starbucks haha.
C414 housed all of our secrets,
our advices to each other,
everything from clothes and food to strength to overcome
any personal problems that we had.
Will miss her greatly as a roommate
and frequent companion in buses, classes and shopping. :'(

Pharmily.
We plan to take this photo every year at the same position.
And our position was relative to our positions in the namelist!
How cool's that haha.
Cr: Jin Yao

Kept in touch with Eximians too.
We had short gatherings every time we had the opportunity.
Although I admit that the faces
we frequently see during gatherings
are usually the same,
I am grateful that the Eximius family bond is still intact.
No matter what,
you don't forget family. :)

One of a few gatherings that we had in KTSN when they came by,
often peppered generously with laughters.

Barry left KTSN shortly after,

but we still think of him as an ex-KTSN Eximian. :)

Was inducted into the buddy system
and attended various buddy gatherings.

Will miss the 4th years next sem hmm :'(

 Challenged my limits
in various extra-curricular activities.
 Learnt debating AP style,
participated in various community services,
went camping,
joined PMFFar.
And many more valuable experiences
that I'll never forget.

Rx Hawks.
Learnt not to let the team down,
and felt a very strong connection with this team.
Next sem we will be joining NPDC as a team together with Tan.
Do wish the best for us! :D

Community services.
Felt really great to participate in these meaningful activities
with fellow coursemates.

GAIN 3.0 family.
Learnt a lot together.
Of course, we had fun in the process too! ;)

Attended various nights
(3 nights in a year wow,
although technically one of em
 was a lunch this year).
 Performed dancing in one,
music in the other two.

College band a.k.a The Liberation a.k.a the gym band.
In our fun, quirky selves heheh.

Pharmaband.
Dr Hanif's and the 4th years' last performance with the band sobss :(
Had a great time with em too!

 Coursenight a.k.a Farewell Night.
Dancing to 2NE1.
Tbh I dunno what to make out of the whole experience.
But at least I tried dancing haha.

Knew how to take public transport
around KL
 (as in the monorail haha)
and use MyTeksi better.

Outings around KL.
Trying lots of different foods.
By far the most delicious dessert
I have ever had the pleasure to taste!
Salon Du Chocolat doesn't disappoint,
but prepare your wallet too. ;)
Watching more movies.
Shopping like adults.
That 1 day when band members went out together
after a spontaneous idea to go watch a movie
right after college lunch.

Awesome band mates and Elin, AJK Persembahan.
Absent was Win Wei and Emir :(
We were at KLCC's waterfall after Pitch Perfect 2 :)

That 1 day travelling to Publika for Dangerous Ideas
and then to The Curve to meet Elizabeth Tan
with a companion that is always ready
to talk about anything ranging from our education system
to music.

Two inspiring women in a day
for another pair of younger women. ;)

Not to forget,
going to my first ever concert
watching Pentatonix live with Munyee!!

Pentatonix ahhh! :DDDD
Then there were the post finals outings.
Sunway Lagoon and FRIM with coursemates
and road trip with Eximians.
Had a great time just relaxing after the stress of finals.

Sunway Lagoon with coursemates.
Had an awesome time challenging our physical limits,
and we got to know each other's fears.
Pictured with the Vuvuzuela,
undoubtedly the best experience in SL evah :D

FRIM with them the following day.
Ikr what a marathon haha.
Having a picnic turned out to be tricky
cos we were afraid of leeches.
But we did it anyway hehe. *peace*

Road trip ending in Pantai Morib's sunset.
A beautiful trip with Eximians. :')
During breaks,
I indulged
(and am still indulging, since now is break season haha)
in music and books.
I touch the guitar every single day
that I can,
and I read as many books
as I can manage.

Look at how my face lights up at the touch of a guitar!
Okay I'm exaggerating haha but it feels really good
as I strum my way to another zone.
If I could nominate Book of the Year,
I would nominate Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg.
It induced in me a paradigm shift
that I've never experienced
since reading Tuesdays With Morrie
and The 7 Habits of Highly Successful Teenagers
when I was just a teenager.
More on that in another blog post.

And of course most importantly,
I am inching my way forward
to be a pharmacist.
Baju korporat and nametag,
which translated to pelajar prasiswazah Fakulti Farmasi yeay. :)

 Especially loved Sains Formulasi
because we were required to
prepare the formulations ourselves.

My trial products: emulsion, cream and suppository. :D

Then there were interesting lab sessions
such as when we learnt how to conduct
different routes of administration.

 Lab mates for PD.
Absolutely fun group to be with!

Lab mate for KO and SF, Thiviya. :D

Love handling the microscope!
My childhood dream haha.

Pharmacist As A Profession
was also an interesting course
as the history of the profession
and what our profession does
laid the foundations of
knowledge in the field of Pharmacy
that we will soon acquire.
I'd like to believe that
behind every science pursuit,
humanities lies at its very core.

I also learnt that studying
should never be about
obtaining the perfect CGPA/grade.
Yes, a good CGPA is important,
but what's more important
is the fact that you've learnt something.
Learning is for life,
and so is the knowledge gained.
What use would it be
if one just memorised in an attempt
to score a good CGPA
and allow the knowledge
to dissipate as soon as the exam finishes?

In short,
I grew in many different ways.
(Like for eg,
my hair grew longer too haha)
Time is a teacher in itself.

And I know that I will
grow more next sem,
if I keep an open mind
and be brave to accept the challenges
in whatever form they may come.

Can't wait for the adventure to start already! ;)

New Look

So after hours of going through
1. choosing the right template
2. editing XML
3. giving up and finding a new one
...
I finally did it!
Thanks to this website ,
which really made it super easier
compared to editing XML.
Just a few touches here and there,
and this blog looks refreshed :D

Looking back,
I think I've used that template
for a fairly long time already.
Was much more patient editing HTML then.
Or was it because I am not used to XML hmm.
Didn't even screencap my old one
to reminisce in later days haha.
But just to refresh,
it was a blue blanket-ish template
which made me feel homey at the time.

Now that I've changed my tastes again,
I decided to embark on a project
to refresh my blog haha.
It also feels better to write
when the template is right.
(bloggers will know ;) )

Besides that,
I've changed my blog name to "Iridescence"
instead of "My Life and Everything About It"
which was not true anyway
since what I write here is just 20% of it lol.
Chose it because its definition of
"exhibition of colours like those of the rainbow"
is beautiful.
I hope that my life will be as colourful too :)

So here's to a new look,
new name,
and more posts to come!
*cheers*

ASASIpintar 2013/2014: Memories of EXIMIUS 1314

Weeks have passed since our separation.
But there's a nagging voice urging me
to conclude this journey with words.
to not let those memories fade away with time.
Words have the potential of transforming memories
from subtle imaginations to concrete realities of the past.
They can also serve as a reminder that this journey existed,
that it is not only a figment of my imagination.

But alas,
I realize now
that there are too many memories created,
that it would be a hard task to list them all in their minutest details.
However,
I will attempt to generally describe some of them.

Orientation.

Registration. Unpacking with roomie.
Meeting new friends. Eating a LOT. Having briefings by various parties.
Playing orientation games.

First week.

Lecturers introducing themselves. Off-level tests. Getting to know classmates better.
Sending off some classmates. First walking back and whole class pic together.

QOS. (AP102, Grandeur). AP102. (Budindin). EXIMIUS.

Too many memories, but only one universal word:
Family. Famille. Familia. 가족. Aile.
Ps the last one is translated to a language
that a certain member of QOS always says he is heading to ;D

Lecturers.

Inspiring. Helpful. Funny. Warm. Kind. Critical-minded. Open.
And so many more that I've learnt from them.
Salute!
Thank you for everything, lecturers!

Movie making (Jati diri, LitApp) and movie premiere.

This was when we bonded over jokes, discussions at KKM's sofas,
filming, editing, lack of sleep and baking (movie premiere).

Watching the movie again and laughing hard xD. (JD)

Movie premiere for QOS before the real movie premiere. (LA)

Cookies! We also made muffins,
all with the guidance of Sifu Hazril and the cooperation of QOS-ers,
not to mention help from Eximius as well!

Movie premiere :)

EXIMIUS :) (cr: Aman)

Quizzes. Assignments.

Weekly affair for some subs especially during Sem 2.

Lab experiments and reports.

Where science came alive.

Research.

Research Skills lecturer.
Mentor. Supervisor.
Ezplib.
Google Scholar.
Gaya UKM.
Stats.
Proposal to final draft.
Presentations.
Priceless exposure and experience.

Shirts.

Blue and maroon.
Senam 1M.
PM.
Eximius.
KKM.
NM.

Whatsapping.

It all started when several QOS-ers agreed to
open a Whatsapp group for QOS.
Then each class of Sem 1 and 2 and Eximius got one too.
Until now, as soon as the WiFi is switched on,
the messages from both QOS and EXIMIUS
would just start flowing in like a tsunami.
I've long raised the white flag ever since ;).
But I confess that
a small part of me wishes this to continue forever :)

Just a few days, but..

"Scandals".

Now, now. Who won the Best Couple of the Year ;)
Not to mention the many other scandals haha.
Okay better stop,
lest karma catches up with me!

"Hacking".

No device's safe when an Eximian's near..
unless it's fully protected by armours
in the form of alpha or alphanumeric.

* "" = jokingly.

Birthday celebrations.

There were 3 stages to this:
Planning (mostly through Fb).
Executing.
Terminating.
It got more extreme as Sem 2 came to an end.
Let's just say that
several Eximians
are naturally talented juice-makers. :P

  Jogging.

UKM Bangi's greenery made it a great place to jog.
Also a great time to share our stories, fears, hopes and motivations. :)
Btw Tan,
I see where the #healthylifestyle came from already! B)

Walking back.

30 minutes.

"Tumpang kereta".

10 minutes.
Preferred way of getting back during Sem 2 when class ended early.
2 modes: Lecturers/Strangers.
No limits to the type of vehicle.

Music. Earphones. Headphones. Spotify.

Entertainment when we had no time to find one.

Youtube. RM. Korean dramas.

Entertainment when we had slightly more time to spare.
The last 2 was kinda a norm, but personally I'm not into them.

#SELFIE.

Selfie-ing's a trend for most Eximians,
whether it's in a group (mostly after doing certain activities together as a batch),
in a smaller group,
or alone.
As Sem 2 came to an end,
coincidentally the song #SELFIE became a hit.
What a fitting farewell song to describe us :')
P.s The main trend in selfie-ing is the "before-after" inspired by an Eximian ;)

Taking sleeping pictures.

It's dangerous to sleep anywhere as long as there's a camera nearby.
Okay I'm guilty of attempting to take some too,
but with 0% success rate lol.
(sorry Carol & Mun Yee)
Just couldn't beat seasoned experts ;)

WiFi.

Jaring. Tetamu. Warga.
Signing in used to be a daily routine. :)
Important for work and play.

KKM.

Dorm.

Place where fatigue's exchanged with vigour.
Proud co-inhabitant of 71231 with roomie.
Been through a lot together-
spiders, cats, buses, brooms, alarm clocks, food, books. :')

Cafeteria.

A place to be in to prevent sleepiness.
A place I grew fond of because of the countless nights I spent there,
sometimes alone, sometimes with others.
Not to forget the various meetings we had together.
Of course,
it's the best place to satiate hunger EVER in UKM Bangi
(based on my very limited experience though).
The food's no doubt delish :d
The other features of the cafe:

The couches.

Meetings with QOS were mostly conducted here,
especially while discussing details of the movie.
Several other meetings were conducted here as well.
Place to sleep for some if planning to
pull an all-nighter.
Also place for birthday celebrations :)

One of the many meetings that we had.

After movie premiere, everybody shared the goodies together. :)
#EXIMIUSspirit #sharingiscaring

One of the many bday celebs ;) (cr: Zaid)

Photocopy shop.

Very crucial to those who have no printer!
Eximians could be seen entering and exiting it frequently,
especially during the submission of first draft and final report.
On another note,
R.I.P to the helpful photocopy abang,
you will always be remembered for your helpful service and sincere smile.

Bilik Budaya.

Another place for meetings.

Excos prep for dinner night.

Bilik Kalkulus.

It's actually called Keris Panca Delima if I'm not mistaken.
But since AP202 used it for Calculus,
we called it Bilik Kalkulus instead ;)
Studied and did some research in there as well.
The cool air-cond was an added advantage!

Towards the end,
the white board was used to express some of our feelings
and to recollect some memories. :)

The colourful area with sofas.

 Meetings again.
The place QOS gathered for one last time before Asasi ends :')
Violin practices, both duet and solo.

The lobby.

Not really sure whether it's called lobby or not hmm.
Place where AP102 tried out the water balloon.
QOS gathered for pizza heree :d

Badminton court.

Leisure playing.
SUKAP prep.

Basketball court.

Games.
Filming.
Fire practice.
Chap Goh Mei.
Stalker and second stalker revelation.
Last night.

Netball court.

AP102 girl's rep for SUKAP's bola jaring event's secret ;)

Lastly,
I found this pretty accurate:

(cr: IPT Troll)

Permata.

Classes, where exploring and questioning were widely encouraged.

Cafes and food. And selfie.

Last meal at Permata.

Science labs, Makmal Komputer and other makmals.

Last Chemy lab.

Lecturer's office. Meeting rooms.
Corridors and
even toilets.
Every inch of Permata could be linked
to a certain memory,
whether it's handing in the assignments,
or just having casual conversations peppered with laughter.

PTSL. PUSAN.

Where I find and found what I'm looking for.

Kiosk.

Main saviour when the cafe's closed.
Where I fell in love with Nasi Ayam Kukus :d

Nadi Putra. KTM. Taxi. RapidKL.

Where independence's celebrated.

Le Fovero.

Band. Specifically set up for dinner night.
Mentored by Dr Rizwan.
State of the art facilities in the music room
ensured that we practiced smoothly.
Had great times practicing with these awesomely talented peeps!

Wanted to walk back after a late practice.
Fortunately there were lecturers that gave us a ride back to KKM!

Band mates and our supervisor.

Malam C.I.N.T.A. Eximius

Everybody dressed to the nines. :)

Everything went smoothly,
with the cooperation and leadership of fellow Eximians.
Dinner.
Performances.
Lucky draw.
Lumos.
Montage.
Surprise gifts for them.
Anddd..last night. Nuff said.

It's amazing how countless memories can be
created over a relatively short period of time.
Lessons learnt.
Stress endured.
Laughters shared.
Tears flowed and dried.
Eyes and mind opened.
Most importantly,
we became a family of Eximians,
a bond that I hope would last as long as possible.
Because "There are friends, there is family,
and then there are friends that become family".

There's a quote that goes like this
"People may forget what you say,
but people will never forget how you make them feel".

Précisément.

Thank you Eximius, PPpN and UKM.

All the best in your future endeavors!
May we constantly
aim for what our batch name stands for,
never less.

Till we meet again.

Quia eximietas do lux.

Once an Eximian,
forever an Eximian.

#Promise
